More differences between engineered wood and laminate

/

In our last article, we covered some of the main differences between engineered wood and laminate. These two types of wood flooring are quite different, starting from their composition. However, there are several more criteria that can help you to decide which one is better for you.

Get a great aesthetic look with both types of wood:

Basically, the differences between the looks of engineered wood flooring and laminate are obvious. You see; engineered and real wood planks are much alike. These planks provide the wood with various textures. Therefore, each floor board is unlike any other.

On the other hand, laminate flooring boards show pre-designed patterns. They resemble the look of real wood. Then, the pattern is imprinted on each plank. As a result, you will notice that the pattern will repeat every 5 boards or so. In other words, laminate can’t imitate the unique patterns that engineered wood can give.

How durable engineered wood and laminate are:

Indeed, that your floor is durable or not depends mostly on the usage. The level of foot traffic has a lot to do with it. For laminate floors, their manufacturing entails bounding the materials at high pressure and heat. Often, this process results in a surface quite harder than engineered wood. As a result, laminate ends up being highly resistant to moisture and staining. Moreover, the best part is that it will require little maintenance.

On the contrary, the quality of the finish and maintenance methods are all factors that affect durability. Natural and engineered wood is softer than the pressurized surface featured by laminate. However, engineered wood planks can be refinished and repaired. Thus, you will not need to replace them as you would with laminate. It is impossible to fix damaged laminate boards.

We will continue with more of these differences in our next article. When in doubt, don’t hesitate to call Genaro’s Painting for more tips about laminate or engineered wood. Get in touch with our professionals today!
